2 Timothy 3:16 - 17
"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work."
In bible study this week my mentor and I took apart each of the 5 purposes for scripture (profitable, teaching, reproof, correction, training). Here are a few of my thoughts:
Profitable = "to profit", advantageous, sanctification
Teaching = breaking something down into manageable parts so it can be mastered
Reproof = "for proof", TO EXPOSE, convict
Correction = Straighten up again
Training = education, disciplinary correction, chastisement
I thought it was cool to look at the verse broken down...it is amazing what power God's word has over/in/though us! We truely do have the sword of righteousness!!!
"All Scripture is inspired by God and useful for mastery, to expose, for rectification, and for disciplinary correction; so that the man of God may be acceptable, prepared for every good work."
Isn't God's word AWESOME!!! I have struggled the past few weeks getting into the word and really soaking up what it was teaching me. This week has definitely given me a sense of urgency toward scripture (2 Timothy 2:15).
